Unbait is a Chrome extension that changes how YouTube looks on your device. It does not require an account and it does not have a backend.

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Data Unbait collects

Unbait does not collect personal information.

Unbait does not collect:

• Name, email, address, age, or identification numbers
• Health, financial, or authentication information
• Personal communications
• Location or IP logs
• Web history, watch history, or search history
• Clicks, mouse position, scroll, or keystrokes for analytics
• Website content sent to Unbait or any third party
• Advertising IDs or crash reports

Settings stored on your device

When you change a toggle, Unbait saves those choices with Chrome's storage API. That data stays in your browser profile. If you use Chrome sync, Chrome may copy those settings to your other signed-in Chrome browsers. Unbait does not operate that sync service and does not receive a copy of those settings on its own servers.

What the extension can see

Unbait runs only on YouTube pages so it can hide interface elements and rewrite titles in the page. Title cleaning happens locally with a rules list. Nothing is sent to an AI provider or any other website.

Permissions

Unbait uses the storage permission only to remember your settings. The content script matches YouTube only. Unbait does not request identity, cookies, history, or debugging permissions. Unbait does not use remote code.

Sharing, selling, and Limited Use

Unbait does not sell, rent, or transfer user data to third parties. Unbait does not use data to determine creditworthiness. Unbait does not use data for purposes unrelated to making YouTube calmer.

Cookies and this website

This website does not set analytics cookies and does not embed advertising trackers.

Optional Stripe tips

If you use Donate, Stripe checkout is shown on this website and processed by Stripe. Unbait does not collect card numbers, billing addresses, or payment history. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to that checkout.

Children

Unbait is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Retention and deletion

Because Unbait does not collect user data on a server, there is nothing for Unbait to delete from a backend. Uninstalling the extension removes its local settings from that Chrome profile.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will change. Continued use after an update means the new policy applies.
